Loose fitting sleeved jacket worn by common women of the 18th and early 19th centuries. We now offer this popular shortgown in printed cotton fabric. The top of the bodice is made with a double layer of fabric for extra body. Drawstring waist. Brass pin closures come standard, but this garment can be made with cotton ties upon request (a customization fee applies).
We are very excited to offer a unique selection of hand-block-printed cotton fabrics in addition to our standard printed cotton fabrics. Block-printed cotton was popular in the 18th century but it's difficult to find today. We offer a wide selection of patterns and color combinations selected by folks here at Jas. Townsend & Son. Call for available printed cotton patterns, or visit our fabric swatch page for a current offering (we cannot use a stripe for this pattern). Give measurements of bust, waist, and back neck-to-waist.
See our measurement guide for help with obtaining proper measurements.
